With our main focus being on Miata's, we wanted to build one like no other! As a result, we put an EcoBoost Mustang powertrain into an ND Miata, which has proven to be a monster. Our development car is currently running a built 2.3L Mountune motor, a MT-82 transmission, and a stock differential with extra bracing. We have CAD designed and manufactured our motor mounts, transmission mount, and roll bar in house, which will be offered as a kit soon and are currently working on a tubular rear subframe to incorporate a Ford 8.8 differential. This car is running a dry-sump system, but there will be a wet-sump oil pan solution as well. In terms of the electrical side, the car is running a Ford Performance ECU in addition to the stock PCM in order to retain all of the stock Mazda functions, including ABS and electric power steering! To accomplish this, we have developed a 'black box' in order for the two modules to communicate with each other. Some of the other OEM functions we will be incorporating will be the factory A/C controls, start/stop button, throttle pedal, and instrument cluster. With the help of an upgraded turbo and ethanol, this car put down an easy 450 wheel horsepower and weighs 2378 lbs! All of the work has been done in house at our shop down in Hammond, Louisiana.
